Synopsis: Letterman graduated from Ball State University in the late 1960s. In the early 70's he worked as a weatherman, a TV announcer, and a radio talk show host. Letterman's first network break was in 1978 on the CBS variety series 'Mary,' starring Mary Tyler Moore. That year also made his first appearance on 'The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.'
